2013 Academy Award Nominees
For movie lovers and celebrity watchers alike, the Academy Awards are the highlight of the year. On January 10, the official nominees will be announced, followed by an exciting countdown towards the big night, which takes place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 24, 2013. This year will be the 85th Academy Awards.
Last year, the Best Picture award went to the critically acclaimed silent motion picture The Artist, which also won Best Director for Michel Hazanavicius and Best Actor for Jean Dujardin. Best Actor in a Supporting Role went to Christopher Plummer and Best Actress in a Supporting Role went to Octavia Spencer for her remarkable performance as a feisty Southern maid in The Help. Taking top honors for Best Actress was Meryl Streep for her role as British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.
